I work with Paranormal Investigations Scotland as a resident Spirit Medium.
Paranormal Investigations Scotland privately own the South Bridge Vaults at Niddry's Wynd in Edinburgh.
These vaults are the most notoriously famous and haunted locations of all the underground streets and vaults in Edinburgh.
As seen on National & International TV programmes such as
'Most Haunted Live' & 'Scariest Places On Earth'.
Locations used for our overnight vigils include
Niddry Wynd Vaults
Inveraray Jail

The Edinburgh Vaults or South Bridge Vaults are a series of chambers formed in the nineteen arches of the South Bridge in Edinburgh, they were was completed in 1788.
The Vaults were originally used for over 30 years by merchants, cobblers, tradesmen and for storage. Unfortunately the Vaults were never sealed properly and as the conditions in the Vaults deteriorated, mainly because of dampness and poor air quality, the businesses left and the very poorest of Edinburgh's citizens moved in.
The Vaults soon turned into the slums of Edinburgh, giving them a dark and sinister history.
Ian McKain has been running Auld Reekie Tours, the sister company to Paranormal Investigations Scotland, in Niddry’s Wynd for almost 20 years.
In 1996 Ian was approached by a gentleman whom wished to rent out one of the Vaults for his Wiccan Coven as a place of worship.
Ian agreed giving the gentleman a choice of any vault. He chose the driest one. Having the only key to the door of this particular vault, the gentleman was shocked to find one night on returning to his temple, that it had been desecrated. He then took it upon himself to cleanse the temple in the hope of banishing the ‘Evil Presence’.
He arranged large stones to form a protective circle, in which he believes he has trapped the 'Evil Presence’.
He never returned into this particular Vault, hiring removal men to change his temple from one end of Niddry’s Wynd to the other.
Since then it has been known as the 'Cursed Stone Circle Vault'. Many people who have dared to enter the cursed stone circle have been physically harmed, usually in the form of scratches, bruises and burns.
The most commonly experienced ghost in Niddry’s Wynd, is one that we call 'The Watcher'. More often than not he is heard rather than seen. Often his footsteps are heard coming down the corridor. When he is seen, he is usually standing at the very top of the Wynd at the foot of the stairs.
Visitors and staff have reported hearing keys jingling.
One group of visitors were once left in the Vaults by themselves whilst a tour guide went to collect a torch, on her return she found the group in a Vault. She asked them why they did not wait where she told them. The group told her a man (described just like the watcher) had taken them to that room.
The Poltergeist entity has a masculine energy and does not seem to like women.
This is why in the Vault where the Poltergeist is believed to be most active, we separate men and women.
The men are put at the most 'active side' and the women at the ‘safe side'.
The Poltergeist is frequently known to push and shove people in this Vault.
The Niddry Wynd Vaults are famous for their historical and paranormal wealth.
With the Vaults gruesome and chilling history, there is a lot of active spirit presence to cause plenty of phenomina, along with ghostly apparitions linked to residual memory of the Vaults history and all the evil, crime and deaths that occured there.
This location is certainly not for the faint hearted.
Overnight vigils at this location run from 12.00am-6.00am
In the dark the Vaults may be,
but when you visit, the lights you may see.
Be not of torch or candle light,
they be Spirits of darkness, in the night.
Whilst in the Stone Circle, expect to be,
scratched and pushed, for the Devil he be.
Whilst watching us all and jangling his keys,
The Watcher sees all, not just you and me.
If footsteps and voices are what you hear,
It is not insanity, prepare for fear.
So with these last words I say to thee,
In the dark Vaults, is no place for me.
